Inside the medication cup, the inhalation solution is converted into a fine mist that the horse can inhale while breathing normally.

The gray standard medication cup is suitable for most thin, water-based inhalation solutions, including physiological saline. This is the same version supplied with the complete Flexineb E3 set.

Properties and benefits

The Flexineb E3 Medication Cup uses vibrating mesh technology. A very fine vibrating membrane converts liquid into tiny droplets, allowing suitable medications and other inhalation solutions to be delivered directly to the respiratory tract.

Its main features include:

Fine aerosol production: the vibrating membrane converts suitable liquids into a fine mist for inhalation.

10 mL capacity: suitable for various inhalation treatments, with the option to increase the volume to 30 mL using a separately available extension cup.

Standard gray version: suitable for most thin, water-based inhalation solutions.

Easy to replace: the medication cup can be replaced when it becomes worn or no longer nebulizes properly.

Directions for use and maintenance

Fill the medication cup with the prescribed amount of inhalation solution and attach it to the inhalation chamber of the Flexineb E3. Connect the controller cable and start nebulization.

We recommend starting at power setting 1 and increasing the setting only when necessary. The appropriate setting depends on the liquid being used.

Proper cleaning after every treatment is important for reliable operation and the longest possible lifespan.

Protect the electronic connector using the transparent protective cap.

Clean the medication cup after each use according to Nortev’s instructions, using distilled water and a drop of mild dishwashing liquid.

Rinse the medication cup thoroughly and allow it to air-dry.

Never use sharp objects to clean the delicate membrane.

Do not use harsh cleaning products.

Only use inhalation solutions that are compatible with the Flexineb E3. Oil-based products, pure essential oils, and very thick or sticky liquids are not suitable. Do not mix different inhalation products without prior veterinary advice.

Lifespan of the medication cup

The Flexineb E3 Medication Cup is a wear part that requires periodic replacement.

According to the manufacturer, the expected lifespan is up to approximately 100 nebulization sessions when using only 10 mL of physiological saline solution (0.9% NaCl) per session.

When nebulizing other inhalation solutions or medications, the lifespan may be considerably shorter. Frequency of use, power settings, and cleaning procedures also affect its lifespan.

These figures are estimates rather than guarantees. For horses requiring regular inhalation treatments, we recommend keeping a spare medication cup available.

Warranty

The Flexineb E3 Medication Cup is a wear part and is therefore not covered by Nortev’s standard manufacturer’s warranty. Its lifespan depends heavily on the inhalation products used and the cleaning and maintenance performed between treatments.

Advice from the equine veterinarian

A properly functioning medication cup is essential for reliable inhalation treatment. If the cup produces less mist than usual or nebulization takes considerably longer, this may indicate wear or blockage of the membrane.

For most water-based inhalation solutions, I recommend the gray standard medication cup. The appropriate power setting depends on the specific inhalation product.

Clean the medication cup carefully after every treatment. I also recommend using separate medication cups for different inhalation products whenever practical. This helps prevent residual product buildup and unintended mixing of substances.

Not every inhalation solution is suitable for the Flexineb E3. If you are unsure, consult your veterinarian about which inhalation products and settings are most appropriate for your horse’s treatment.

The Flexineb E3 Medication Cup (Standard, Gray) is a replaceable component of the Flexineb E3 nebulizer for horses.
