The liquid is converted into a fine mist, or aerosol, by vibration of the mesh or membrane. This membrane vibrates 90,000 times per second and acts as a micropump.

The performance and lifespan of the Flexineb E3 Medication Cup depend strongly on how well it is maintained between uses. The type of medication or liquid used also influences its lifespan, as the technology must pump the medication or liquid through very small openings to create the aerosol.

If a highly viscous liquid, for example one with a consistency similar to honey, is placed in the medication cup, it may not nebulise. Dilution may help if the liquid is water-based. If the liquid is oil-based, dilution will not help.

Warranty: the medication cup is a wear part, and its lifespan is highly dependent on the medication used and how well it is maintained between uses. For this reason, the medication cup is not covered by the warranty.
