Audevard Ekygard+
The equine stomach continuously produces gastric acid. Factors such as intensive training, transportation, changes in feeding routines, and management conditions can influence gastric health. Appropriate nutrition and management are therefore particularly important for sport horses.
Audevard Ekygard+ is a complementary feed specifically developed to provide nutritional support for the equine stomach. Its formula combines ingredients selected for their ability to help buffer gastric acidity, support the gastric mucosa, and promote normal digestive function.
Ekygard+ can be used as additional nutritional support for horses exposed to intensive exercise, frequent transportation, competitions, or changes in their daily routine.
Properties and benefits
Ekygard+ contains a combination of ingredients with complementary properties:
- Pectigard Complex®: a combination of pectin and lecithin that can form a gel-like structure in an acidic environment. These properties have been investigated for their potential to support the gastric mucosa.
- Magnesium hydroxide and lithothamnion: mineral ingredients with acid-neutralizing properties that help buffer gastric acidity.
- Sea buckthorn berries: contain antioxidants and fatty acids. Sea buckthorn has been investigated for its potential supportive effects on the gastric mucosa.
- Actisaf® (Saccharomyces cerevisiae): a live yeast used to support normal digestive function and microbial balance in the gastrointestinal tract.
- Bentonite clay: a mineral clay included in the formulation.
Composition
Ekygard+ contains Pectigard Complex® (pectin and lecithin), lithothamnion, alfalfa, magnesium hydroxide, sea buckthorn berries (Hippophae rhamnoides), brewer’s yeast, algae (Ascophyllum nodosum), fenugreek, corn by-products, sugar beet molasses, perilla oil, stevia, and aloe vera.
The formula also contains bentonite clay and the live yeast Actisaf® (Saccharomyces cerevisiae).

Advice from the equine sports medicine veterinarian
Good gastric health starts with appropriate nutrition and management. Providing sufficient forage, avoiding prolonged periods without feed, and maintaining a carefully adapted training program are important considerations, particularly for sport horses.
Ekygard+ may be used as additional nutritional support but does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment of gastric disorders. When gastric ulcers are suspected, gastroscopy is recommended to establish a diagnosis and determine the most appropriate treatment.
