Twydil Twyblid

Twydil Twyblid is a complementary feed specifically developed to provide nutritional support for sport horses during intensive exercise. Its formula combines antioxidants, vitamins, and botanical bioflavonoids to support normal cellular processes.

Twyblid is particularly intended for horses performing regular high-intensity exercise, such as racehorses and other sport horses exposed to substantial respiratory and pulmonary circulatory demands.

Properties and benefits

Twydil Twyblid contains a combination of vitamins and antioxidants with different physiological functions:

• Vitamins C and E: antioxidants that help protect cells against oxidative damage. Vitamin C also contributes to normal collagen formation, which is important for connective tissue and blood vessel walls.
• Vitamin K: plays an essential role in normal blood coagulation.
• Vitamin B12 and folic acid: are involved in normal cellular metabolism and red blood cell formation.
• Biotin: participates in various enzymatic processes involved in metabolism.
• Rutin: a botanical bioflavonoid with antioxidant properties.

The manufacturer positions Twyblid as nutritional support for respiratory function and blood circulation in sport horses. Although its individual ingredients fulfill various physiological functions, there is insufficient clinical evidence that the product prevents or reduces exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH).

When to use Twydil Twyblid

Twyblid may be considered for sport horses regularly performing high-intensity exercise, particularly during demanding training periods and competitions associated with substantial pulmonary circulatory stress.

The product is intended to provide nutritional support and is not designed to treat respiratory diseases or pulmonary hemorrhage.

Composition

Twydil Twyblid contains Palatinose™ (isomaltulose), vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin B12, folic acid, biotin, and rutin (a botanical bioflavonoid).

Directions for use and dosage

Twydil Twyblid is administered orally by mixing the contents of the sachets into the horse’s daily feed.

• General use: 1 sachet of 50 g daily for at least 10 days.
• Intensive supplementation: 2 sachets of 50 g daily for at least 3 weeks.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage. When other vitamin supplements are administered simultaneously, the total daily vitamin E intake should be considered.

Packaging and duration of use

Twydil Twyblid is available in a box containing 10 sachets of 50 g.

• At 50 g per day: sufficient for 10 days.
• At 100 g per day: sufficient for 5 days.

Advice from the equine veterinarian

Exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH) is common in horses performing very high-intensity exercise. Its primary cause is the substantial mechanical stress placed on pulmonary capillaries during strenuous exercise. Although antioxidants support various physiological functions, there is insufficient evidence that antioxidant supplementation prevents EIPH.

Twydil Twyblid contains relatively high amounts of vitamins C and E. In horses receiving multiple supplements, I therefore recommend evaluating the total vitamin intake. It is also important to recognize that normal blood coagulation does not automatically protect against EIPH, as this condition is not primarily caused by a deficiency in coagulation factors.

Horses presenting with unexplained poor performance, epistaxis, or suspected EIPH should undergo appropriate veterinary investigation. Depending on the clinical findings, exercise testing followed by respiratory endoscopy may be indicated. Twyblid may provide additional nutritional support but does not replace targeted diagnostic investigations or appropriate treatment.
