Audevard Bo Yeas Act Ultra

A balanced intestinal microbiota plays an important role in digestion, nutrient utilization, and the overall health of horses. Dietary changes, transportation, stress, and intensive training can affect the delicate balance of the gastrointestinal microbiota. A balanced diet and appropriate feeding management are therefore essential for maintaining healthy digestive function.

Audevard Bo Yeas Act Ultra is a complementary feed specifically formulated to provide nutritional support for digestion and a balanced intestinal microbiota in horses. Its formula combines live probiotic yeasts, prebiotics, and the specialized ingredient Mycosorb A+® Equine.

Bo Yeas Act Ultra is particularly suitable for horses undergoing dietary changes, experiencing changes in fecal consistency, or facing periods of stress or increased physical activity. It may also be used to provide nutritional support for normal digestive function following gastrointestinal disturbances.

Properties and benefits

Bo Yeas Act Ultra contains several complementary ingredients designed to support different aspects of digestive function:

  • Probiotic yeasts (Actisaf®): live yeast cultures of the strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC Sc 47, used to support normal digestion and microbial fermentation within the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Prebiotics (fructooligosaccharides, FOS): fermentable carbohydrates that can be utilized by certain intestinal microorganisms, potentially contributing to a balanced gastrointestinal microbiota.
  • Mycosorb A+® Equine: a combination of yeast cell wall components and other ingredients developed to bind certain undesirable substances in feed, including specific mycotoxins. Binding capacity depends on the individual substance and the conditions of use.
  • Brewer’s yeast: provides additional yeast-derived components and contributes to the formulation’s nutritional support of digestive function.
  • Botanical ingredients: alfalfa, carob, anise, and fenugreek complement the formula and contribute to the palatability of the product.

The combination of prebiotics and probiotics is designed to support normal digestive function and provide additional nutritional support alongside a balanced diet. The potential benefits depend on several factors, including the horse’s basal diet, individual intestinal microbiota, and overall health.

Bo Yeas Act Ultra is not a veterinary medicinal product and does not replace appropriate treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. The presence of Mycosorb A+® Equine does not mean that feed contaminated with mycotoxins automatically becomes safe for consumption.

Composition

Bo Yeas Act Ultra contains brewer’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, MUCL 52946), Mycosorb A+® Equine (yeast cell wall extracts from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, corn gluten feed, and dried algae), sugar beet molasses, fructooligosaccharides (FOS), alfalfa, carob, calcareous red algae of the genus Lithothamnium, anise seeds, stevia (Stevia rebaudiana), and fenugreek.

The formula also contains live probiotic yeast cultures, including Actisaf® (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, NCYC Sc 47) and Saccharomyces cerevisiae MUCL 39885, as well as bentonite as a technological additive and apple-vanilla flavoring.

Directions for use and dosage

Bo Yeas Act Ultra is administered orally by mixing the granules into the horse’s daily feed.

The recommended daily dosage depends on the horse’s age and level of physical activity:

  • Foals: ½ scoop daily (5 g per day).
  • Yearlings: 1 scoop daily (10 g per day).
  • Adult horses: 2 scoops daily (20 g per day).
  • Adult horses during intensive training or competition: 4 scoops daily (40 g per day).

One scoop contains 10 g.

Audevard recommends an administration period of 3 to 4 weeks. Depending on the individual needs of the horse, supplementation may be repeated or continued for longer periods in consultation with a veterinarian.

As the formula contains ingredients with adsorbent properties, consult your veterinarian when administering Bo Yeas Act Ultra alongside oral medications. Separate administration times may be appropriate depending on the medication involved.

Packaging and duration of use

Audevard Bo Yeas Act Ultra is available in two packaging sizes:

  • 1.2 kg: sufficient for 60 days at the standard dosage of 20 g per day, or 30 days at the increased dosage of 40 g per day.
  • 5 kg: sufficient for 250 days at the standard dosage of 20 g per day, or 125 days at the increased dosage of 40 g per day.

The duration of use is calculated based on the recommended daily dosages for adult horses. These figures represent the theoretical number of daily doses contained in each package. The manufacturer initially recommends a supplementation period of 3 to 4 weeks.

Advice from the equine veterinarian

Healthy digestive function starts with a balanced diet. Adequate amounts of high-quality forage, sufficient water intake, and an appropriate energy supply are fundamental to maintaining normal gastrointestinal function. Dietary changes should preferably be introduced gradually, allowing the digestive system and its microbial populations to adapt.

In sport horses, frequent transportation, irregular feeding schedules, stress, and intensive training may affect digestive function. Under these circumstances, targeted supplementation with prebiotics and probiotics may be considered. Bo Yeas Act Ultra combines live yeast cultures, prebiotic ingredients, and Mycosorb A+® Equine to provide additional nutritional support.

However, the scientific evidence supporting probiotic supplementation in horses varies according to the microorganisms used and their intended application. Not all probiotic strains have the same properties or produce comparable effects.

It is also important to recognize that changes in fecal consistency do not necessarily indicate an imbalance of the intestinal microbiota. Dietary imbalances, parasitic infections, inflammatory intestinal diseases, and other underlying health conditions may also affect digestive function.

Horses presenting with persistent diarrhea, recurrent colic, weight loss, or an unexplained deterioration in body condition should undergo further veterinary examination.

Depending on the clinical findings, a detailed nutritional assessment and additional gastrointestinal investigations may be necessary. A complementary feed can support appropriate nutritional management but does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.
